Ladakh
Much like the rest of the world, the COVID-19 pandemic forced Dolma Lhamo to live a restricted life. During that time, she noticed the plight of several starving stray dogs in her locality. She decided to start a YouTube channel to raise awareness about the dire conditions of these animals during the lockdown. Through her videos, she informed viewers about various localities in Leh and Ladakh where animals were going without any food, encouraging people to feed these animals. Her viewers responded to her call, and started helping her feed stray animals. She also garnered overwhelming support from her viewers abroad. Furthermore, her YouTube community also supported her in other social initiatives during the pandemic, like providing books, boots and warm clothes for the nomads and the under privileged living in Ladakh. Within only three months of her channel’s launch, it started making money. Her channel has inspired many across the world to start similar initiatives of their own.
